Bug Bust 24 Update

Bug Bust 24 was a success!

The show was wonderful this year! Despite the forcasted chance of showers, and overcast day, we up north in Webster made it through the day with out rain. I know some folks to our south did experience rain and did not make the journey to the show. We had a great turnout of carsĀ  and a few first appearances to our show. We had a totalĀ  of 70 Volkswagen on the show field, with several other display only cars and cars for sale. Our show sponsors Select Eurocars, Dorschel Volkswagen and Dick Ide Volkswagen attended with some of their late model and new stock to show off.

Our new location at the Damascus Shrine Center was a big hit! We arranged the car show parking on grass, plenty of shade trees around and had an awesome DJ keeping us entertained with music. They supplied us with tables, chairs, canopies, traffic cones to use for parking and clean indoor rest rooms. As a thank you, it was decided to donate our collected half of the 50/50 money to the Shriners Children’s Hospitals.

New this year we eliminated participant judging and went with teams of club members judging with judging form point system. It was not highly critical judging, but seemed to produce fair results and the judges enjoyed working with each other on this project. With out the added task of tallying participant votes and with the assistance I received from club members and my family, I had a bit more time to actually walk around, talk to folks and enjoy the show. This allowed me the opportunity to chose a recipient for the first annual show coordinators choice award.

In reviewing the many changes that had to be made for this new venue, things went very well, but there will be a few areas to improve on for next year. I have already reserved the Damascus Shrine Center again for Bug Bust 25 on Sunday August 2, 2015…Come celebrate our 25th anniversary show!!
